Q1： What are the rules and limits regarding an English domain name?
A1：
1.The domain name must have at least 2 characters, but less than 63, not including '.com.tw', '.net.tw', or '.org.tw'.
2.The valid characters consist of letters, numbers, hyphen, but no more common symbols under RFC-1035. It must start and end with letters or numbers, but 'www.' or 'http://www.' are not considered to be part of your domain name.

Q2：What are the basic principles for registering an English domain name?

3.Applicants are entitled to register domain names following the terms and conditions with registrars.

Q3： How to apply for a English domain name? What are the registration procedures?

Please go to "Seednet Domain Name Register Service Center" at (http://rs.seed.net.tw/) and choose to apply for "English" Domain Names." You will be guided by the on-screen instructions to walk through the process.

Q4： What qualifications do I need to apply for an English domain?
A4：
1.".org.tw": A juridical person or association juridical person registered in conformity with law.
2.".net.tw": Internet service providers. Domain Name Registration & Management Regulations (such as with Class 1 telecommunication business license or permit for installation of network, or with class 2 telecommunication business license). Applicant should submit photocopies of Class 2 telecommunications business license .
3. ".com.tw": companies incorporated under the Company Law or businesses registered under the Business Registration Law.

Q5： Is there any limit on the number of English domains an applicant can register?
A5：
There is no number limit of the domain that one registrant  may take.

Q6： How much does it cost?
A6：Must pay the overhead charge according to the use year time

Q7： How should I make the payment?

You may make the payment online with credit card. We accept Visa, Master and JCB card.

Q8：I forgot to pay the annual fee in due time. How should I make up?
A8：
The Registrars may freeze the domain for thirty (30) days if the renewal is not settled upon expiry of the valid period. The Registrars may cancel the Domain Name if the payment is still not made after the thirty days. Please go on "Account Manager" and renew it before the deadline so that the domain would not be deleted.

Q9： How do I find out which organization takes  the domain name currently?
A9：
The homepage of "Seednet Domain Name Register Service Center" provides "Domain Name Search Engine" that allows users to look up if the domain name is taken by another user. If you wish to find out which organization owns a certain domain name, we recommend that you go to WHOIS lookup at http://www.twnic.net.tw and enter the domain name you intend to query.

Q10： What can I do if the English domain name I desire is taken up?
A10：
The registration of English domain names is based on the policy of "First Come First Served.".If one domain is desired by two or more applicants, the request who claims earlier is accepted .

Q11: How long can I use the English domain name I have registered?
A11：
Current domain name registration rules stipulate the valid registration period is ten years maximum; the system will automatically send out email payment notice less than 90 days before the expiration date. If you intend to continue to use the domain name, please renew upon reception of the email notice. In pursuant to TWNIC's regulations, the Registrars entertaining registration may suspend  the use if the management fee is not paid upon expiration date of the valid period and further cancel the domain if the payment is not paid after being thirty days overdue.

Q12: If I don't use the domain name right away, can I keep it without using it for the time being?
A12：
Seednet is only responsible for the registration of domain names. There is no rules restricting when you should use the domain name once your application is approved; you can make your own decision. If you temporarily haven't applied for an IP address, you don't have to proceed DNS (Host/IP) Specification for the time being. But we have to ask you to keep the password for your account in mind so that you can go online and configure a corresponding IP address once your esteemed company is ready to activate the domain name.

Q13: How do I query and modify my password ?
A13:
The password is set up by you rather than us when you applied for the registration. We recommend you could have the assistance from  the administrator who is in charge of the registration. If the password is confirmed lost, to prevent the English domain name from being appropriated by others, please print out the copy of "Request for Change Form" at http://rs.seed.net.tw/ . Fill out the information regarding and select the items you request for. Then it's necessary to provide a copy of the Certificate of Incorporation and Articles of Incorporation. Finally, fax them back to 886-2-2659-9789. We will notify you via e-mail within 2~3 business days.

Q14: May I know the expiration date of English domain names?

You can go to "Account Manager" page and input the Account Number, password, and the domain name you desire to query. You can look up the current status, registration period, and other details of your domain name once you log-in successfully.

Q15: How do I modify my basic information? (Address, phone number ,fax number, and email, etc.)?

You can go to " Account Manager" page to log into the domain name management screen to change the basic information you desired.

Q16: How do I modify my billing contact?
A16:
Please .print out the copy of the "Request for Change Form" on http://rs.seed.net.tw/ at Seednet. Select the invoice item and fill in the information and kindly please fax it back with a copy of the Certificate of Incorporation and Articles of Incorporation to 886-2-2659-9789. We will send you out an electronic mail while finishing.

Q17: How do I modify my DNS (Host/IP) information?

Please sign into "Account Manager", select "DNS (Host/IP) Specification" and list as authoritative for your domain name. Note: The registry requires two unique DNS for the address to function properly.

Q18: How soon can I use the English domain name after the DNS configuration is finished?
A18：
It generally takes 24 to 72 hours for a newly registered domain name to begin resolving on the Internet. If you recently have modified your DNS or IP address, DNS changes generally take 24 to 72 hours to publish throughout the Internet. You may also want to double check that you entered your modifications correctly.

Q19： I have finished the domain name registration, but why isn't my website working ?
A19：
If you haven't setup or leased a Web space with a static IP address, your website certainly won't work. Therefore you don't have to proceed DNS (Host/IP) Specification for the time being. But we have to ask you keep the password for this account number so that you can go online and configure a corresponding IP address once your esteemed company has a Web space with a static IP address and is ready to activate the domain name.

Q20：Why can't I find out my website on search engines?
A20：
Seednet is only responsible for Domain Name registration. If you intend to list your domain name information with top search engines, we recommend you contact them.

Q21： I had applied for a domain name, "abc.com.tw", and the email reply I received also indicates "abc.com.tw". Would the domain address be "www.abc.com.tw" when the registration process is finished? If not, do I need to reinitiate the registration procedures online?
A21：
This configuration is made by your esteemed company when you apply for the domain name; other issues involving host name should be resolved by responsible service providers.

Q22： Is it including web hosting service when I apply for domain name?
A22：
Not really. If you need to built your  website, You could continue to order 'Web Hosting' service at http://product.seed.net.tw/webhosting/ and follow the instruction to have more information. 

Q23：How can I do what if I misspelled my domain or I'd like to change my existing domain?
A23：
In pursuant to TWNIC's regulations, domain names under normal using can be changed without limits on times of change. But it's not allowed to change that  domain names that will expire within 45 days.When your request is accepted, the current domain name will attempt to be suspended during the procedure You have to complete the document review procedure and submit the payment within 4 days prior.It might take 2 business days and the new domain name will be activated if all required procedures are completed within the specified period. If the change procedure is not finished before the deadline, the current domain would be reactivate on the 7th day.

Q24：Can I cancel the domain name I have registered ?

If you have already made the payment, the domain name could not be cancelled according to regulations of the TWNIC.

Disputes and Others ▲top
Q25： If the English domain name infringes on a trademarked name, how will the dispute be mediated? Who is going to assist in the mediation?
A25：
The registration of domain names is generally based on the policy of "First Come First Served." If your English domain name is already registered by other organizations and your trademark is well known by the public, you can claim your rights under Trademark Law or Fair Trade Law. The disputes will be mediated by TWNIC.

Q26： How do I transfer the ownership of the domain name (from A Corp. to B Corp.)?
A26：

These following documents must be ready:

1.'Request for Change Form': Please print out the copied at http://rs.seed.net.tw/ and fill out the information about the new owner.
2.'A power of Attorney': The signature of both owners are necessary. It must be listed the original owner totally agree to transfer the domain name to the other one.
3.'A copy of the Certificate of Incorporation and Articles of Incorporation of these two organizations/companies.

 The above-mentioned documents should be sent to Seednet via fax. After 2~3 business days, the new registrant would get the responds no matter it's successful or not. Please use the company chop instead of the signature if one of the registrants is native. The request form must be in Chinese version if the new registrant is from Taiwan.
